NEW ZEALAND SWIMMER
WINS RACE

LONDON, September 3,
The New Zealand swimmer, Mai" colm Conner, won the annual fivemile cross-Solent race from Southsea to Eyde, in 2hr 25min, half an hour ahead of the second man, beating the Channel swimmer, E. H. Temme's last year's time by a minute. He said: "It was one of the coldest swims of my life, but it was a pleasant change not to be worried by sharks. I hope to gain other English successes."
