THE OLD TESTAMENT
LITTLE RELIGIOUS VALUE
DEAN INGE'S CRITICISM
(Received September 4, 2.30 p.m.)
LONDON, September 3
Dean Inge, addressing the Modem Churchman's Conference at Birmingham, criticised the Old Testament, much, of which, lie said, was of little religious value today. The great part was unintelligible to ordinary English readers. The so-called historical books contained much unwholesome reading. Personally, with his own children, h8 had concentrated on the New Testament and gave very few lessons from the Old Testament.
