A WELCOME HOME

A delightful welcome home was given to the Director-General and Mrs. MeNamara by tho controlling officers of tho Post and Telegraph Department and their wives. The Pharmacy Hall was decorated in soft warm colours, and was a fitting background for a brilliant gathering. The supper room was artistically decorated by Mesdames Frank Guinness, J. J. Knight, and Thorn in a scheme of white and green supplemented by green and gold,- and bonbons, balloons, and hundreds of miniature flags together with daffodils (direct from Otaki) converted tho tables, which bore a delectable savoury supper, into an artistic picture. On arrival Mrs. MeNamara (who wore a model frock of black georgette with cowl neck and .bouffant sleeves) was presented with a floral shoulder

spray. During the evening Mr. J!. J. Knight welcomed Mr. and Mrs. MeNamara and stated that there was a unanimous feeling of pleasure at their safe return from abroad. Although the function was arranged by the Wellington District Committee, the management committee of the guild cooperated on behalf pf all the controlling officers in New Zealand, and several members of the management committee were present. The guests were greeted with musical honours.

-Mr. MeNamara, in responding, stated that ho was overwhelmed by _ the warmth of the reception. . In giving a brief outline of some portions of their trip, he made it clear that both ho and Mrs. MeNamara were pleased to return to New Zealand.

Music for dancing was provided by an excellent orchestra.
