PITY THE BOOKMAKER!
In a report that the Premier (Mr. Butler) -will present to the South Australian Parliament, the Betting Control Board shows that for the six months ended June 2 the public spent £1,304.068 with licensed bookmakers. ft received back £1,154,2G2 in winnings. The total outgoings.of bookmakers, including turnover tax and stamp duty on betting tickets, were £1,281,442, leaving a net profit of £22,026, or an average net profit of only £63 for the 362 bookmakers; for six months. The board shows that 135 bookmakers made an average lops of £06, and '-27 an average pro/it of £139.
