SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION

The monthly meeting of the Sunday School Union was held last evening. Mr. A. Gibbs, president, was in the chair, and sixteen delegates were present.

It was reported that the district rallies \~ere being . attended to .by the various committees, and -that good progress was being made in the preparation of the programmes. As the. examiners had finished their work earlier than usual, the distribution of awards would be made sooner than had been jiossible in former years.

On the motion of Mr. R. M. Russell, seconded by Mr. Howe, the Te Puni School was received as a member of the union.

A cheque for £1 was received from St. James's School for the extension fund.

The Givls' Life Brigade nominated Mrs. A. Gibbs as their representative on the union's committee.

Miss A. Edmcadcs gave uu address on "The Leakage Between Primary and Main Schools." The atmosphere of the main school, she said, was often not sufficiently attractive; the primary class scholar missed the warmth of the primary division. In the course of the discussion which followed Miss IMmeades's address, the opinion was expressed by Mr. Howe that visitation was a weak point in most schools. Miss Edmeados said that at the Brooklyn Baptist School the minister did the Sunday school visitation. Mr. Pirio reinarkpcl that lie did not sec why the main school should bo bare, cold, aud uniuviting. He considered that there should be a junior division, with its own room, between the primary and main school. Grading, ho added, was desirable to a greater extent than obtained in most schools.
