MAN
POLICE MAKE AN ARREST

.Knocked down "by a masked man who came to the door of his shop last night, Mr. W. Hill, manager of the Self-Help store at Beckenham, has been admitted to hospital with fairly severe injuries, which were inflicted with a wooden club.
Mr. Hill was first addressed by name, and then ho was struck. His cries attracted the attention of a passer-by, and the assailant made oft".
Subsequently tho police were informed and thoy have made an arrest. After being dazed by the first blow Mr. Hill, it is alleged, was again struck. Ho hold on to his assailant, calling for help. A struggle ensued in which tho man lost his club and mask. Then the mail grabbed a bottle of kerosene with which he again knocked Mr. Hill down. Apparently frightened by tho uproar the man then made off by the path through to Tennyson Street. It is stated that ho was scon by a passerby who gave information to the police.
Mr. Hill was found lying semi-consci-ous on tho floor of tho storeroom, and ho was admitted to hospital suffering from head injuries. His condition is not serious. j The police found at the scone of the struggle a wooden club which had a rubber grip.
