HOUSE DAMAGED
LOWER HUTT FIRE
"Taruna," a. largo two-storey dwelling in Western Hiitt Boad, Lower Hutt, and owned and occupied by Mr. Charles Elliot Wyett, was badly damaged by lire just after 9 o 'clock last evening. Most of the inmates woro in bed when a visitor, Mr. 11. Bobbio, who was sitting in an upstairs room, saw smoke issuing through the floor. On investigation it was found that the kitchen was on fire, the outbreak having occurred in the neighbourhood of an electric hot water cylinder. The Lower Hutt Brigade arrived promptly, but tho firo had a good hold. The house being beyond tho borough boundary, the brigade was handicapped by having to pump water from a creek, and by tho time the fire was suppressed considerable damago had been done.
The houso was insured in the South British Insurance Company for £2500 and the furniture with the Queensland Insurance Company for £1750.
