LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
ISLAND , BAY-BERHAMPORE
The eighth annual meeting of the Island Bay-Berhamporo Branch of the League of Mothers was held recently in the Masonic Hall, Mrs. Hindmarsh presiding over a largo and enthusiastic gathering of members and^-friends.
After a welcome had been extended to all visitors the members joined in a community sing which was conducted by Mrs. Cook.
The secretary presented tho annual report and financial statement, both of which indicated the great progress jnado by the branch during the year. Mrs. Hihdmarsh (as retiring president) thanked the committee and members for their loyal support and cooperation and said she hoped that each member had derived some benefit both for herself and for the good of her home from the league meetings.. Several members spoke sincerely of: what the league meant to them, encouraging them to strive for high ideals in all things pertaining to home life;
The foundation member, Mrs. A. Whitelaw, took tho chair during the election of the president. Mrs. Hindmarsh was re-elected unopposed, although she had wished to stand down. The following officers were also elected:—Hon. life vice-presidents, Mrs. A. Whitelaw, Mrs. A. L. Craig; vice-president, Mrs. Ziman; secretary and treasuror, Miss I. Craig; committee, Mcsdames Williamson, Joplin, Whitelaw, Vance, Lunn, Keen, Moncrieff, Benningtou, Hay, Whyte, Self, .Tackman, Hester J. McLean, Bott, and CookJ ■ •
An induction service was held and 1 fifteen members were received into full membership. Members were asked to tell others of any useful household hints that they knew of; and many and varied were those that were passed on. Afternoon tea was then served and tho meeting closed with the singing of tho Doxology.
