COMPENSATION ASKED
As a. sequel-to the collision last October between the British motor-ship Silver Palm and the , United States cruiser Chicago,,an action is being brought against ,the United States Government asking for i 6,000 dollars compensation for'loss of lumber on board the tanker. The'action is being brought by. two : South African companies) "'-..'
The collision, occurred near San Francisco. The 'owners of the motorship have already filed a claim for 150,000 dollars against the United States Government for damages, and the United States Government a. coun-ter-claim, for damages amounting to 300,000 dollars. Two officers of the cruiser lost their lives.
