NO EXTRA MEAT
PALMERSTON UNEMPLOYED
(Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMEBSTON N., This Day. The Unemployment Board .advised the Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday that it was regretted that they were quite unable to extend Palmerston North's meat ration beyond the 450 carcasses already allocated.: The board had mow no uncommitted stocks in any part of New Zealand. ■ Councillor Hodgeus: One would take it from, the board'jr letter that there was a distinct shortage of mutton in New Zealand. Mr. A. E. Maasford said he feared that if the Government did not supply tho meat required it'would bo reflected on the Hospital Board in more ways than one. The Government was in a position to buy meat as .cheaply as it could be bought, and if they could find money for No. 10 scheme and other similar schemes, then surely they could help with meat. The secretary stated that tho biggest ration issued was 61b of meat a week. It was terribly hard to take it away from the relief workers on Christmas Eve. ' • . It was decided to protest again to the Unemployment Board.
