SECRET LYNCHING
YOUNG NEGRO VICTIM
NEW YORK, December 16.' A message from Columbia, Tennessee, states that, a negro youth, Cord Cheek, was lynched today after being discharged by a-grand jury on a charge of attacking a young white girl. The body was found hanged from a tree. Officials knew nothing of the lynching until notified afterwards by telephone. Apparently a small band executed the hanging without bothering to arouse the countryside.
