HONOURS BOARD
UNVEILING CEREMONY
WELLINGTON GIRLS' COLLEGE
Immediately before the "break-up" ceremony yesterday morning, a number of parents representing the Parents' Association assembled with the Board of Governors, school staff, and many of the guests in the entrance hall of the AVeJlington^ Girls' College for the unveiling of the new-honours board for school honours, which was the gift of the association to the school. Th? president of the association, Mr. A. E. Hefford, said he believed that the' honours board was one of those things which helped to. build up the school tradition. There was no doubt that a full honours board-was a great inspiration, but an honours board with plenty of blank space was surely equally inspiring. He formally handed over the board (which was' unveiled by Mrs. Macphec, president of the Ladies', Auxiliary) to Mr. George Mitchell, who represented the Board of. Governors. Mr. Mitchell expressed his warm appreciation of the work of the association, and accepted the gift for the school as another-example of the useful assistance the association had rendered. '..Mrs.' E. W. Kane also expressed her j 'appreciation of ■ the -work of the Parents' Association. She stated that] it was not until the jubilee functions j took place last February that she realised how much help the association and particularly the Ladies' Auxiliary! was able to render. She was sure that it would have been impossible to cope I with the large number of visitors to the school on that occasion without their aid. ' .
