NURSING PROFESSION
"Now that the teaching profession is for the present almost closed to girls, more are preparing to take up nursirfg or dental work," stated the principal (Miss A. M. Batham) at the Wellingtln East Girls'i College prizegiving. "The nursing profession requires girls of the best type. AYe feel certain that very shortly the standard of education-required for the probationer is to be raised, After matriculation there is always a year or more before a girl is old enough to join up as a nurse. To fill in this year girls are able to take up here at school a course to prepare them for their firstyear examination at hospital. AYe arrange work in physiology, chemistry, dietetics, cookery, etc. A similar course would help those intending to enter the dental clinic. I should like to tee a number of girts consider this course for next year."
