PLUNKET SOCIETY

Mrs. Balcombe Brown presided at the recent meeting of the Upper Hntt Plunket Society. A vote of sympathy was passed to the president, Mrs. S. Blackley, in the recent death of her mother, Mrs. Hunter Brown. Members stood in silence. The Plunket nurse reported.on the work of the month as follows: —New eases, a. A Tisits to homes: Upper Hutt, 37; outstations. 35. A 7isits to Plunket rooms— Upper Hutt: Adults 108, babies 91, older children 27; out-stations, adults 43, babies 38, older children 13. Total visits for month, 320. Regret was expressed at the resignation of Miss Pattrick, Director of Plunket Nursing. A grant of £5 was made to Karitane Hospital, Melrose. ■ ■ : . ' The committee acknowledged the following moneys received: —Government subsidy, £57 13s 4d; sale of karilac and emulsion, £2 19s 8d; special donation for work amongst mothers, Red Cross Society, Upper Hutt, £5; Mrs. Barkley Smith, £2. During a social hour tea was served, and Mrs. Balcombe Brown presented to Mrs. McCiirdy^one of the vice-presidents) a bouquet from committee members, congratulating her on the attainment of her golden wedding, and thanking her for her interest in Plunket work and in all that pertained for the good of the district. Congratulations were also extended to Mrs. S. D. Eogers (lion, secretary), to whom a spray of flowers was given, and to Mrs. Thomas, both of whom are celebrating their silver wedding this month.
