FIRE ENGINE HITS CAR
MOTORISTS' NARROW ESCAPE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKL ' ND, December 14. A narrow escape from serious injury was experienced b.y the occupants of a light motor-car which was struck broadside on by the Mount Eden fire engine tonight. The engine struck the car, driven by Lawrence Bishop, crushing in one side of the vehicle. bishop escaped with minor abrasions, but a passenger, Stanley Thomson, aged 28, married, was admitted to hospital suffering from head injuries. His c6ndition is not serious. The engine, which was practically undamaged, was responding to a false alarm.
