FALL INTO RIVER
COUNTY EMPLOYEE DROWNED

MARTON, This Day.
•'A fatal accident oceirrred at Bangi■tijke'i • County Council's metal crushing fork's-4t Xakariki this morning, when afmiddle-aged employee, Walter George Grantham, was drowned and J. L. Goilo •was injured. The two men, with A. S. Bfounsell, were proceeding across the BWngitikei'Biver in an overhead bucket u&ed. in transporting metal from the stream bed when the overhead gear suddenly gave way and the bucket dropped t» the-river below. Hounsell and Goilo managed to struggle from the swift■flpwing water, but Grantkani ■ was Wedged, between the bucket and the overhead gear,, which fell on him, and he was drowned.; Considerable difficulty was experienced in recovering the body.
