SATISFACTORY TURNOVER

The Wellington, Racing Club's Spring Meeting was opened at Trentham yesterday in almost perfect weather, and there was an excellent attendance for a midweek day. The track was hard after the recent dry spell, and times were exceptionally fast. It is the first occasion on which a three-day meeting has been held in the spring, and there is. therefore no satisfactory comparison for totalisator turnover. The investments amounted to £38,915 (£8324 J/a win, £10,590 V& • place), and on the first dajt (Saturday) last year they were £20,056, under the old twodividend system. , , . Results were:— ' . .
