WAIRARAPA BOARD

CARTERTON, This Day. At yesterday's meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board the manager reported that the September returns showed a satisfactory position, the net revenue for September being in excess of the estimate by £225 13s Id. The gain on the estimates for tho first six months of the year was £414 lls 9d. Bulk supply revenue for the September quarter was £1074, .being a further gain of £32 on the estimate. The total gain on the estimates for the first six months of the year from sales of electricity was £843 lls 9d, and taking the revenue as a whole, the gain on the estimate for the half-year was at least £900.
Cost of power is one of the main items of expenditure, and a gain of £233 15s 4d compared with the estimates was shown. Capital expenditure for the half-year amounted to £1951 8s 3d.
Twenty new consumers were actually connected to the system during September, and the connected load was increased by 107 k.w. Consumers connected to the mains totalled 4594.
The secretary-manager was authorised to place before the Loans Board a scheme for the conversion of the board's loans amounting to £364,850 on the suggested date, May 30, 1034. If the scheme is approved and the conversion put into operation, tlie board will save £4572.
