Fanners' Wives Meet. A meeting of the Otaki branch of the Women's -Division, New Zealand Farmers' .Union,' was held recently at the. home of the secretary, Mrs. Warehairi, Mrs. Lethbridge presiding over a small attendance of members. . A committee was elected as follows:—Mesdames Swabey, Walker, Jensen, Simcox, and: Davidson. Discussion took place on the provision of suitable accommodation for the division's' housekeepers, as this is not always available in small homes, and it was proposed that Levin should be invited to co-operate in the provision of the necessary equipment for the combined districts.... -As a beginning towards raising the necessary sum it was decided to hold a combined bridge and. euchre party during November. Tea brought the meeting to a close. Mount Victoria Croquet Club. The Mount Victoria Croquet Club was favoured, with ' beautiful spring weather for the opening of its 1933-34' l season. Miss Zelda Walker, granddaughter of the late Mrs. George McGill (an esteemed foundation member) presented bouquets to Mrs. C. J. B. Norwood (patroness) and to Mrs. C. Campbell (president of the dub). The president welcomed the members wishing them an enjoyable time on the lawns. Mrs. Norwood also addressed the gathering complimenting the club on the excellence of its lawns and on its ideal surroundings, and called attention to the generous manner in which the members had worked to obtain funds as donations for charitable purposes. Mrs. Norwood played the first ball and declared the lawns open. _ A dainty tea was served in the pavilion, the tables being suitably decorated, for the occasion. The prize winners in the competitions were: French, Mrs. Wilkie; to and fro, Mrs. Wilkie; clock, Mr. Ham; target, Mrs. Westmoreland. Original Plays at Eepertory Hall.
A dramatic entertainment will be given by Miss Hardinge-Maltby next Thursday, at the Repertory Hall. Three original one-act plays,- each by a New Zealand authoress, will be presented— "The Green Handkerchief," a fresh piece of! Irish village life, by Miss Catherine Kcddcll; "The Satin Slippers," ;i short comedy by Miss Eva Butts; and "Still Water?," :i piny with n farmland setting by Mary Scott.
