REQUEST TO MINISTER
Dissatisfaction with the arrang* ments regarding the method/of- computing "wet time" allowance:was ex* pressed by a deputation to "the Mm« ister of Employment (the Hon'.-'A! Ham« ilton) today from relief wo'tKejs caw ployed on Public Works controlled jobsi in the Hutt Valley. . •;:
-Mr. A. .E. Sergent, the principal! speaker, asked for the withdrawal o% the notice that relief workers should; return to work and make up time losti through wet weather. ■■ Some men had! had deductions of from 2s 6d to 7s 6'd; made from their sustenance allow* ances, and it was asked that thos« amounts should be restored. Eeliefi workers employed by other local bodied were not compelled to make up tiind lost.
Several other speakers supported M'rlj Sergent. - . The .Minister ■undertook to invest!* gate the matter. Mr. P. Fraser, M.P., suggested thai the Hutt Valley men be placed on th< same basis as the Wellington men. He ako requested that the men should not: lose time as a result of their visit ta the Minister.
