Alexander JUines, Limited^ ..orts for the month of September as follows:—No. 3 north drive (eastern block), level driven to 77ft north of crosscut, whole distance being on stone of varying widths from one to ftve feet. Length of the block exposed, including 18ft driven on stone- south, is 95ft. Stone showing in bottom half of face and cut off by a fault from this point upwards and displaced to westward. Average value over full length driven 76s 8d over a width of 27in. No. 3 intermediate level north: Driving continued with thrae shifts, face now being 60ft north of crosscut. Stone followed from 2 to sft in width, but lode generally carried large percentage of country rock. A change has now come in for the better, there being 3ft 6in of clean stone showing in face. cut was put out east from* north end of north drive and driven 38ft when lode was intercepted. This proved to be 3ft fiin wide and has been driven': on north 17ft. Stone is clean and! solid and contained .between two fairly even walls, there being but little variation in. width over distance driven. Lode is as strong underfoot as in drive and promises well for future developments.- Average value 84s 6d. Average width 42in. • Very little stoping carried out during mouth, most of stone obtained being driven 6n't of solid. The portions'of lode being worked at present are small and faulty, consequently a large percentage of country rock finds its way to battery. Improvement, can be looked for in future, several faces containing country rock halvingcleaned up considerably. During: .the period 302 tons were sent to battery and crushed for a return of 91oz 4dwt. The cyanide department treated , 218 tons of coarse sands for a return of 676z lldwt of bullion. The total estimated value of these- returns is £840. In addition to the above concentrates valued at £414 were also saved. In estimating the above values gold is taken at 120s per fine oz. 1 CHARLESTON SLUICING. The first wash-up on the Charleston Sluicing Company's claim at. Croninvjlle was made on October 7, the return being 15 ounces. Some small technical difficulties were experienced'during the firstfortnight's sluicing, but these have now been overcome. ■
