PLEA OF GUILTY
DELIBERATE BREACH
NO ALTERNATIVE
(British Official Wireless.) (Received August 5, 11 a.m.) •■' KUGBY, August 4. Mr. Gandhi, who was released and re-arrested owing to his refusal to comply with an order restricting his activities, pleaded guilty, when on trial today and was sentenced to one year's simple imprisonment. He admitted a deliberate breach of the Government order, which, he said, he had no alternative but to disobey, although he wasiH man of peace. . A light sentence was imposed in view of Mr. Gandhi's age and the fact that the Government did not press for a severe punishment.. .
