MEERUT CONSPIRACY
SENTENCES REDUCED
(Eeceived August 5, 9 a.m.) ... CALCUTTA, August 4. A ■wholesale reduction of the sentences ou appeal in the notorious Meerut Communist conspiracy case has given general satisfaction. 'Of 26 persons, including three Englishmen, originally sentenced to terms ranging from twelve to three years' imprisonI ment, five, including liutchinson, were acquitted, while the maximum sentence i, on the rest was three years. The' sentences on Spratt and Bradley were reduced from twelve and ten years to two and oue years respectively.
