HERETAUNGA BOATING CLUB
The annual prize-giving ceremony of the Heretaunga Boating Club was held in the clubhouse last evening, there being a good attendance. _„,,,.„ The club's patron, Mr. J. W. McEwan', congratulated the club on its sound financial position, and on the successful season's racing. The club had good prospects for the future, he said, and all were looking' forward to the regatta at Christmas. He congratulated the winners. The cQmmodore of the club, Mr. G. Hook, complimented the club on the way in which it had carried out its races, especially the racing committee for its iud'-'in" and the manner in which it had done its duty. There was no doubt of the progress of the club's new class ot boat, the idle-along class. Good Performances were also made by the Takapuna and the 14ft class. He thanked those who had donated the various cups to the club. •' The prizes were presented by Mr. McEwan, and the following is the list of Plf Ihe Idle-along Challenge Shield (donated by Mr. S. Reid): D. McKenzie's Ranui (Worser Bay Club). Committee Challenge Cup: J. letley s Rongomai, also the Thorndon Dinghy Cup, and the championship pennant for the Idle-along class. Wilford Cup: K. Uptons ISukumai. Hartley Cup: A. Aldred's Shirley, also
June Cup and We-Tako Cup, and championship pennant for the Takapuna class. Kift'e Cup: A. Sehvood's Idyllic. lrex Cup: J. Douglas's Mahau. Koeke Cup: D. Tegg's Nukumai.
Blyth Cup: J. Schlup's Lonesome. Rongoniiii Cup (for lady members.-only)_: Miss Cargill (Rqngomai) and Miss K. Douglas (Nukumai), equal. It was announced that a regatta would be held by the club at Christmas time in connection with the carnival at Petone. The regatta would commence on Boxing Day and continue until January 2. About fifty boats would compete in the regatta. A social evening was held in connection with the prize-giving and was most successful.
