AN EASY WIN

Greater combination and understanding and superior speed gave St. Patrick's College Old Boys an easy victory over Mel-rose-Selwyn at Xewtown Park on Saturday afternoon. The losers defended stubbornly, especially tho forwards, who showed up well in the scrummages, but their backs lacked confidence in handling the ball and were slow off the mark. The St. Patrick's Old Boys' backs got plenty of ball, and once under way they were always dangerous. But for one or two dropped passes, and tho reluctance of tho wings at times to go for the corner, the score in their favour would have been much greater. In spite of the rain, the •round was in fair condition. In the first 'spefl Krogh, Phillips (2), and McParland scored tries, one of which was converted by McGuinness. In the second half tries were scored by Hart, Jeffries, and Phillips, and conversions were made by McGuinness and Johns. The referee was Mr. H. H. Anslow.
