RETIREMENT ANNOUNCED
(By Telegraph,—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 'May 25. Mr. .. E.. C. Cuttcn, S.M;, _ Senior Stipendiary Magistrate at Auckland for many years, lias resigned. Official advice to.this effect was received today. iTlie resignation takes effect from July 1 at-the completion of his'full term of service. ; Mr. Cuttcn is at present en route to England on extended leave of absence. Ho'was appointed as. a Magistrate in 1907. ■■'■■.:• Mr. Wyvcrn Wilson has been appointed the new Senior Stipendiary, Magistrate in Auckland as from July 1. He will also take «ye? Mr. Cuttcn's post as President of the Children's Court. Mr. Wilson,, who' for some] years;past has been stationed at Hamilton, has been relieving Mr. Cuttcu since his departure some weeks ago. Mr. Cuttcn was born in Dunedin in 1867,.-arid educated at Christ's College, Finehley, England, and at Otago Boys' High School. He was articled to Haggitt Brothers and Bront in 1887, and remained there until 1895. In 1892 he took his B.A. at Otago University, and j four years later graduated LL.B. For some years he was associate to Mr. Justice Williams, and later he practised at Naseby, of which town, he became Mayor in 1902. In 1907 he was appointed to the Magistracy and stationed at Napier, and became Sheriff for Hawke's Bay, and chairman of the Licensing Commission.I'-.
