CARNAGE AMONG SHEEP
STOCK TRAIN DERAILED
(Received May 11, 2 p.m.) ■ ' SYDNEY, This Day.: Both railwavj lines leading to.th* west were blocked late last night when a goods train was derailed at Werringtori, near Penrith. Twelve trucks lade* with sheep and cattle were smashed! and over four: hundred sheep killed. Fifteen other trucks also teft the line. ■ One truck containing a hundred sheep was telescoped, and every animal killed. Several horses were so badjy, mutilated that they had to be- shot. Deep channels were cut by the'heavy undercarriages in t*ie' permanent way, which was torn up for a considcrablo distance. , . The accident was due. to the ■wheel of a leading truck snapping. The service will probably be resumed in the morning- , • ..:'
