Whitcombo and Lacey, 68, are- leading a field of prominent players, . including Riinmer 69, Hodson 70, Alliss and Havers 71, Seymour, Perry, and Ke.nyon 72, Jolly, Green, Cotton, and Bay; 73, Easterbrook, Padgham, and C. Whitcombe 74, Mitchell, E. Whitcombe, and Holland 76. Out of twenty Ryder Cup nominee! Thirteen obtained 74 or under. [ Whiteombe and. Lacey broke th« course record of 70 by Cotton. Whitcombe took only one putt at four of't&t holes where he secured threes. Lacey; drove tremendously and putted dazz* lingly.
