HUTT BEAT WESLEY
A -weak Wesley defence allowed Hutt to gain a 2-0 lead in the first spell, but after the' interval the Blues showed to better advantage, and their opponents scored only once more. The final score was 3-0. For a time after the start the play was fairly even, then Hutt were given a penalty corner from which Phillips netted high up. A- : Wesley attack from, the right nearly evened the scores, but Hutt's nippy backs soon cleared, and play returned to the Wesley area, where from another penalty corner McLcod, who was in excellent form, sent the ball into the net. Just on half-time Pj'le, Kelly, and Butcher were associated in a promising Wesley attack, which Sm allwood broke up on the edge of the circle. The Wesley defence improved considerably in the second spell, although there was a tendency to obstruct, and the left wing lacked support. They had their full share of the ball but came close to scoring, at least once, but the Hutt backs were too sound, and some time before the final whistle P. Judd scored the final goal. Messrs. W. Purves and A. Needham were the referees. : , ■■
