PROPERTY VALUES
NO STABILITY IN AUCKLAND
RATEPAYERS1 APPEALS
(By Telegraph-.—Press, Association.) • : AUCKLAND, This Day. Commenting today on1 the Assessment Court which has been hearing a large number of ratepayers'' objections, the City Valuer said that from the evidence given there appeared to' be no stable values in Auckland. All he could do was to try to keep values in uniformity as much as possible so that one section of Ratepayers would not be penalised by another section lodging objections. The only surprises were ,the remarkably low values placed on properties by some estate agents who gave evidence. When the same people-were selling properties■ a few., years ago they had a different story to tell. Valuers and, owners, when •,objecting, stressed all the bad features.: •
The' City Valuer added "that lie could not yet say what the reductions made by the Court amounted to. It would be for the City Council to decide whether the rates should bo increased to make up the loss of revenue that ■ the reductions represented.
