According to Wingatui advice, Admiral Drake is getting through useful work to fit him for more strenuous tasks. All going well he will be seen out at the autumn meetings, but cannot be seriously entertained- until really stretched out in his work.

It is reported from Wingatui that Palantna has grown into a handsome mare. She resumed work recently, after a spell, and she is getting into good'shape again. It is intended to race her at Oamaru- next week. .

Gustavo was booked to race at the Wellington Meeting, this week, but owing to. the acceptance for his first day's engagement being overlooked, he will not be taken north. W. McDonald had the horse in excellent order, and it is unfortunate that; the trip has had to be cancelled. ' •' .

Granado. who'has accompanied Assemble and Kerbside -to Trentham to contest the Trial Plate on. Friday, is no stranger at the course, as 'he was bred? by. Mr. V. Riddiford and was trained and raced from there for a season and a-half prior to being sold. at. the January sales over twelve months ago. He is-a four-year-old fullbrotlier to Might, and is still a maiden.

The-Biccarton trailer, J. ,B. Pearsor., is keeping Ramo and RoyaULove going in strong work. They, ■•have been benefited by their recent racing, and they are cradually getting back to good- form. Provided they train' on, they should be a useful pair during the next, few months.

The Riccarton filly, Importance, may be sent up to Trentham this week. She claims an engagement in the St. Leger. and this looks a good opportunity of trying her over a distance. In all her races she has been running on, and she shapes like making 'a. stayer.

Mr. R. J. Colling, an. English owner, has chosen the "riatnesoofff Leg Theory and Body-ljne for his two-year-olds, the brown gelding by Tonton—Newt and the bay filly by Blue Ensign from' Rich a-nd! Rare. London "Sportir.g Life," in publishing this information, heads it "Bound for Australia?" •

The jumper Domo, who has been, schooling at Ellerslie lately, is a ten-year-old gelding by Romeo from Takahau, hence a half-brother to Wharncliffe, winner of the Grand National Hurdles in 1927 Domo is sturdily built, but it has yet to be seen whether he possesses any real ability. At present he is inclined to be too dashing in his fencing, but may settle down with experience. -
