BETTING IN STREET
£100 FINE IMPOSED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., March 14. Pleading guilty to a charge of frequenting Cuba Street for the purpose of betting, Nelson Edmund Baigent was fined £100 by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Police -Court this morning. In asking for the maximum penalty, Senior-Detective Quirke said defendant had been bookmaking for several years, but had not previously been before the Court.
