PARTY FOR CHILDREN

Mrs. J«nson presided at the finalmeeting for 1932 of the Lower Hutt branch of the League of Mothers. Following the usual • custom. the meeting took the form of a-party for the little folk from the Creche, with-.Miss Rilcy in charge. -Prior to the arrival of the children a short admission service was held. "Christmas- carols' were sung .by tho choir, and Mrs. Jenson read a short story with an appropriate message. Briefly addressing the members, Miss Riley spoke of the- inestimable value of the creche, which was due to the self-sacrifice and/arduous work of the creche convener. (Mrs. E. Shearer) and her helpers. A short demonstration" of the methods employed for the children's amusement followed. Coloured beads, reels, crayons, paper, and blunt scissors were passed -out to the children, ■ who busied themselves in a happy fashion, ■building, drawing, and 'cutting ' out. With.'naturalness and charm several of the small folk recited. Margaret Shearer and little Eon Schmidt contributed songs. This being, ; the sixth party, of this kind, there was a special birthday cake with sis candles. Miss Mcßain played enjoyable piano solos during tea, and hearty votes of thanks were accorded to her and to Miss Eiley for generous assistance.
