RECENT TERRORIST CRIME

CALCUTTA, 27th October. A collective fine of £6000 has been imposed .by. the Bengal Government on the inhabitants of Chittagong, a town of Pahartali, the scene of a. recent terrorist outrage, and seven surrounding villages in consequence of failure on the part of the Hindu residents to give the Government information regarding terrorists whom they are suspected to be harbouring and assisting. Realisation of the fine has been postponed until Ist December, to see whether the action of prominent Hindu inhabitants in forming associations to aid-the Government to track the terrorists will prove effective.
