POLLOCK'S SEND-OFF
H. R. Pollock, the' Petbne representative in this'year's''New Zealand : Rugby team, was farewelled at a dance held by' the Petone Rugby. Football Club in the Labour Hall last night. .. The Mayor of Petone (Mr. D. McKenzie) congratulated Pollock, and said that he was following in the footsteps of his late. father, and had brought. signal honours to his native town. While players such as Pollock were in the game there was no doubt that Rugby would become increasingly popular with the people, and the honour accorded Pollock was considered weir merited. '■'•■' : M>.W. Nash, M.P., also extended congratulations, and wished Pollock the best of .luck overseas, adding that if he did just as much in Australia as he had done for Petone and Wellington, he would , follow" in the footsteps of his. worthy -predecessor and ex-club mate, Mark Nicholls. :■"
YMr. Nissen, the club's president, presented Pollock with a .travelling bag on /behalf of the Petone citizens and members of the Petone Rugby Football C)ub. \> In responding, Pollock paid a tribute to Mark Nieholls's codching, which he considered had a lot to do with his selection. ' '
Miss Price, on behalf of the ladies, presented Pollock with a mascot for the team —a Kewpie dressed in All Black colours, with a cap and fern leaf. -
