MEMBERSHIP "DRIVE"

GIRL CITIZENS1 EFFORT

With laughter, singing, flushing reds and blues,' and, above all, the cries of encouragement to both sides, the Wellington Community of Girl Citizens commenced -their membership drive on a recent^evening. Enthusiasm, reached "a high., pitch when the two teams, tho Reds and- Blues, into^ which, the Girl Citizens have divided themselves for the ." drive, imet'-to : present', to each other their campaign songs and warcries. The girls hayo pledged themselves^ to double their:numbers within a fortnight, and if willingness and enthusiasm are any. criterion, there is little doubt about their reaching their high goal. They are eager to share their movement with the girls- of .Wellington, linking them up with this great comradeship of girls through the Dominion. A Girl Citizen has a wonderful opportunity to make friends, to enjoy physical culture, basketball, outdoor games, and sports:-ofcall kinds. She is encouraged to use her hands and to make beautiful things. She is also encouraged to understand the world she lives in and form her own opinions. Dramatics, debates, discussions,; and all the normal activities of girls come within the scope of the club programmes, which are planned by the girls themselves, assisted by their leaders. And through all,-Girl Citizens are helped to respect the work and personalities of other people, and to live up to their ideal of citizenship expressed in the Girl Citizen "Code' of' Civic Laws."
