PIONEER CLUB MUSICALE

An interesting musicale was held at the Pioneer Club on Wednesday evening, when the music circle presented a programme of popular modern compositions to a large gathering of club members.. The elubroqm. was. tastefully decorated with large' bowls of beautiful autumn flowers. Miss Amy Kane welcomed the gu'esta, and asked Mrs. Ginn to take the chair for. the evening. The prigraiiime consisted mainly of some of the best-known works of* modern composers, and was as-follows:—Glees, "Jerusalem'? (Parry), "To A Wild Bose" (McDowell),'the singing circle; songs, "The Willow' Tree" (Goring Thomas) and "My Mother" (Marsden), Miss Pearl Brodie; songs, "Volta la Terrea" (Verdi) and "Caiscunvlo dice" (Donizetti), Miss. Ethna Greig; piece for' two pianos, . "Croon" (Harris), Misses N. Grey and L. Vohde'rsloot; songs, "Tho, Snake-Charmer's Song" (Trehearne). and "The Fairy Treo" (Vincent O'Brien), Miss- . Ella Fair; violin solos, "English Dance" ' (B. J. Dale)' and "Breath o' June"- (John B. McEwen), Miss Prv.rlence Lewis, accompanied by Miss Ormi Reid; songs, "You Are My Heart's Delight" (Lehar) and "The Early Morning" (Graham Peel), Miss tea Jervis; two piano items, "Waltz;,.Vennoiso" (Parrish), .Misses Gfey .aftd Vondersloot; songs, "ISTebbio" ■»•-.: (Respiglii) and "Windy -Nights^ (Stanford), Miss Mollie Fenton; violin solo, "Cherry Ripe" (Cyril Scott), Miss Prudence Lewis; songs, "Silent Noon" (Vaughan Williams), and 'iWe Sway Along" (Mallinson), Mrs. P. Ramsey; solo and chorus, "The Sleepy Hollow Tune" (Kountz), Miss Ella Fair and the singing circle. Nearly every item was enthusiastically encored, and all were much enjoyed by those present. Miss I. Ginu played tho accompaniments to all the songs.
