WEDDINGS
A wedding of interest to Southland people iv/as-celebrated at St.- Andrew's Church,' Wellington, on Wednesday evening,- when. Linda, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs.: R. A. Rodger, Wellington, was married to. George, son of Mr. and Mrs.. Joseph. Metzer, Bluff. The Rev. R. J. Howie, M.A., officiated. The bride, who.was escorted by her father, wore a beautifUlly-cut fr6ck of parchment satin, the skirt being flared with long godets in a sun-ray design. Her voil was arranged with orange blossom and myrtle, and she carried a sheaf of sweet peas and freesias. Miss Lulii Rodger attended, her sister as bridesmaid, wearing a long frock .of georgette, .the wide flare Of, the skirt being obtained .with, inset godets. She wore an apricot- felt bat^ and carried a muff of rucked ge"6rg'6tte and satin ribbon. A sniail; attendant, Miss Patricia Barton (niece' of the"bride");'wore \a Kate Greenaway frock of jade'georgette with" puff sleeves, and carried a sheaf of flowers to tone. Mr. Allan Rodger (brother of the bride) was best man. A reception was afterwards held at the Royal Oak Hotel, only immediate relatives of tho bride and bridegroom being present. Mrs. EodgOr wore a frock of Chooclate brown pin-tucked marietto relieved with cream georgette. Her hat and bouquet were to tone.
A full choral evening,wedding, was celebrated recently at •- the Wesley Church,'; Taranaki street,. Wellington,' when Thelma'Naomi, younger'daughter of 'Mr.irand';Mrs. Hi B. T. Bichardson, "Vaueluse," Koseneath, waa married to William, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Kcenlyside, Sunderlaiid, England. The Eev. T. K. Richards officiated, and Mr. H. Temple White played tho organ. The brido, who was escorted b*y.-her father, wore ,a charming Old: Wprld f rjock, of ivory taffeta with d'osefltting b'odifto'and long skirt with :pep-~, lum 'and bustle effect. The sectional iflared skirt'- 'fell : :into a long ■ train. Among the clusters • which held the beautiful veil - in, -place were • orange blossoms which had been worn by the bride's grandmother. A sheaf1 of flowers shading from, cream to maize, completed the toilette of the bride. Tho bridesmaid, Miss Josephine Bailey, wore a maize-coloured taffeta frock made with ;simple frilled effect, and a. velvet bolero cape. She wore a charming Dolly Vardeii hat, and carried a quaint rucked velvet muff to tone. Little "Valmai and Joy Mountier . (Christehurch), nieces of the bride, were flower girls, wearing quaint little toe-length maize-ojoured frocks with puffed, sleeves, and Vie? torian poke bonnets. Each carried a rucked velvet muff to tone. Mr. Frederick W. Smith was best man. The reception- was held in the Jacobean room at Kirkcaldie and Stains, where over one hundred guests were entertained. Mis. Richardson wore a sniart frock of midnight blue, lace and georgette, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. Mrs. L. J. Brabin wore a black frock and coat, and carried a bouquet of scarlet. Mr. and Mrs. Keenlypide left for the South^ the bride wearing a smartly-cut costume in kingfisher blue, with hat to tone. .Their future home will be in Christchurch. '
