HUNTER ESTATE

WIDOW;S APPLICATION

Eight counsel representing parties interested in the estate of the late Sir George Hunter were present in the Supreme Court to-day when two applications were heard before Mr. Justice Blair.

Counsel for' Lady Hunter, widow of the testator, -said that although there was a large array of counsel present there was practically no contest in regard to the two applications. The first was an application by Lady Hunter for a temporary order to enable the Public Trustee to pay over.such money as ho had in hand to meet the situation in which she was placed, either until the farm property commenced to produce or other sources became available. The second application was made 611 behalf of the infant child, Hetty Hunter, and was also in the nature of a temporary expedient to provide some nicans of maintaining the child until tho income became available.

. It was rather a terrible admission to have to make, counsel added, but Lady Hunter s circumstances, on account of the present economic depression, had become absolutely desperate, as she had had no income whatever since her husband's death.

Counsel for Betty Hunter suid that' obvious y tho clnld was unable to maintain hersejt, and her mother was also at the present time unable adequately to maintain her. If the circumstances now were such that they could not have been anticipated by,the testator when he made his will, that was a factor for the Court to take into consideration.

After hearing the other counsel, his Honour said he would give an early decision in view of thd urgency of the matter.

Messrs. Ramsey Wilson and • Co. will sell a selection of furniture and sewing machines at their Manners street mart (opposite Regent Theatre), at •> o'clock tomorrow. '
