MANAGER FAREWELLED
The opportunity .was taken by the New Zealand Rugby Union's ' management committee last 'night of farewelling - Mr. W_. JV .Wallace, a member of the committee, who is accompanying,' the New Zealand team to Australia as.* manager. "I understand that in Australia they kiiow you as well as we know you here," said, the chairman (Mr. S. S. Dean) in addressing Mr. Wallace, "and that being so, I am, sure you . will be held in the highest esteem by all with-! whom you .come. into.contact. We all know that a manager of a team has no light task. You have rather an onerous job, and we are confident that you will carry out that job to the satisfaction of thY union, the team, the country sending you,: and to yourself;'We wish you and your team a very pleasanjt. trip, . freedom from accidents, good.games, and .a, safe return."
Mr. Wallace, suitably. replied,.' and es- '■! pressed the hope that the team' would . return, "with a few wins anyway, if not . ihelot."
