TEAM'S ITINERARY
•FURTHER;CHANGE DESIRED
An opinion that it was asking too much of the New Zealand f Rugby team to play a match two days before a Test with .Australia was expressed at last night's meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union's management committee when a request''was received from Australia that •the touring team's: itinerary be further . amended to permit of a match at Ipswich: '■'The Queensland .Rugby Union wrote stating that Ipswich, perhaps recognised asthe home of League football, had , now .come under the 15-a-side banner, and it was intended to play the match originally set down for Brisbane on the 13th July at 'Ips^vieh.. It was proposed, subject to.the approval ,of the New Zealand Rugby "Union, that' the date of the " match be altered to Thursday, the 14th July, this change being suggested with a view to having a bigger attendance than would bo ■ "the case if the match were played on the Wednesday. The New South Wales Rugby Union;,wrote . supporting .the proposed amendment to the itinerary. . After some discussion it was decided to reply pointing out that in view of the , JEest.on the Saturday,, the New, Zealand "Union's management committee desired' that the match at Ipswich be played on Tuesday, the 12th July, or on the fol"lowing day. The manager' of the team (Mr. W. J. Wallace) was, hoWever, given authority to take any further action in regard to, the request if deemed advisable - and without unduly affecting the team.
