KARORI CLUB

Owing to the range not being available for the Musketry-Course Shoot, the Karori Defence Kifie Club again had to alter their programme, and on Saturday held the first long-range shoot of the season, a practice at SOO and 000 yards. President H. T.

Marshall was in charge. There was a good light aud conditions appeared to be j good, but as soon as shooting commenced*: it was realised that the wind was particularly difficult to judge, and high' scoring was decidedly the exception. At 900 yards it was even more difficult, at times five of the six flags showing different directions and strengths, and many misses were recorded. At both ranges T. H. 11. Boon's shooting was outstandingly good, his 48 at 900 being a remarkably fine performance, and his total being seven points ahead of the next man, B. G. Goldfinch. (Jnr.). Tlie above two men secured the scratch and handicap weekly trophies respectively. At 800 the young member, D. A. Rankin returned a score worthy of note, and held second place at that range. Next Saturday the club will shoot the Musketry Course. Members are reminded of the importance of attending-tliis shoot, a- it is to qualify for the free grant of ammunition for next season, M<smber» would be advised to take out five packets oi ammunition for the day.
