On the occasion of her marriage to Captain Henry Abel Smith, the King and Queen gave Lady May Cambridge a diamond necklace which can be divided into two bracelets and a smaller necklace, or four bracelets. Princess Alice and the Earl of Athlone's present to their daughter included a diamond and emerald brooch and a diamond bandeau which can be converted into two bracelets, an Mrs. Francis Abel Smith's gift was a diamond tiara. Tho Duke of Connaught sent a clock (states "The Post's" London representative). Thero were several "community" gifts. The Prince of Wales and his brothers, Princess Mary, the Duchess of York, and the Earl of Harewood sent a joint present—a writing-table—and a painted screen was the gift of Prince and Princess Arthur of Connaught, Rear-Admiral the Hon. Alexander and Lady-Patricia Ramsay, Princess Marie Louise and Princess Helena Victoria. Gifts of furniture included a lacquer card table from Countess Howe, a Hepplowhite chair from the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, a writing desk from Lord and Lady Cowdray, and a painted chest from the Headmaster of Eton.
