Children's Entertainment.
A party of children from the Porirua State School gave a most successful and interesting entertainment recently to the inmates of the Porirua Mental Hospital. The performance took place in the large dining hall of the main building, and there were more than four hundred patients present, who, by their applause, showed unmistakably that the efforts of the clever children gave them much enjoyment. A long programme of dances, recitations, and singing was presented by M. and L. Kennedy, J. Falls, S. and D. Hughes, F. and B. Colley, .T. Mexted, J. Windlay, A. Whetstone, N. Clark, R. Stewart, and A. Kennedy. Attractive costumes were worn for all the items. At the conclusion of the entertainment, Mr. William Rateliffe ("Uncle Bill"), on behalf of the patients, tendered hearty thanks to the children and their parents for the excellent performance provided for their pleasure. Matron Kelly entertained the youthful performers to a plentiful supply of light refreshments.
