THE DAY IN PARLIAMENT
When the House of Representatives, adjourned at 10.30 o'clock last night, 55 speakers had taken part in. the Budget debate, and there Avas every-indica-tion that the queue of speakers is still a fairly long one. The five speakers yesterday took advantage of the wide range of topics allowed, and; discussed everything from the use of horses on' farms to tho question of a national > party. The one Minister of the Crown who entered the lists, the PostmasterGeneral (the Hon. J. B. Donald), suggested that all parties in the Empire Parliaments should send representatives to a conference to discuss and investigat.o the problems ■of the day. A' prominent member of the Reform Party, Mr; D. • Jones, agreed that the Budget -should, be balanced, but stressed the need for: more: effective economies. He predicted that, the revenue from Customs would -fall below the estimate and that next year there would again be a deficit, probably equal to the present one.:
