Moderate but freshening' southerly winds may be expected north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and these later will"veer to the west. Variable winds will prevail elsewhere, riortberlies predominating and Inter freshening. Dull and misty weathev is likely to be general, with fog in places. Rain is probable in most districts, with some' heavy falls on tho East Coast of the North Island. Temperatures will be cool, bat should shortly become- milder again over the South Island.
