"OPENED WITH GOOD TONE."
Messrs; Murray, Koberts, and Go., Ltd., are in receipt of the following wool market, cablegram from their London agents, dated 7th July:—"Sales have opened with a good tone, competition good; Yorkshire buyers principal operators. Compared with last London sale's, closing rates greasy Merino best descriptions declined 5 per cent; greasy merino other descriptions declined 7% per cent.; scoured Merino, poor selection 'offered, insufficient to. test the market; crossbred greasy fine declined 5 to 7% per cent; crossbred greasy coarse to medium declined 10 per cent.; crossbred scoured declined 5 to 10 per cent.; slipe crossbred declined 10 to 15 per cent." . GOVERNMENT ADVICES. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated Sth July, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—"Wool stiles opened yesterday with large attendance and good competition, home trade being best supporter. Compared with closing rates last series, best merino par to 5 p.c.; others 7% p.c.; fine crossbred a p.c., medium crossbred and coarse crossbred 10 p.c.; slipe 10 p.c. to 15 p.c. lower. "There are 147,000 bales available for the series, of which Australian number 61,000 bales, New Zealand 04,600, aud South American 17,500."
