STOP OUT CLUB
ANNUAL REUNION
The twelfth annual reunion of members o£ the Stop Out Club was held in the club's new rooms last night, the Kev.'.T. Feilden Taylor presiding. The reunion, which took the form of a smoke concert, was attended by about fifty members..
In proposing the toast of "The President," Sir. J. Hichen spoke of the splendid work Mr. Taylor had done since the club was .formpel. lie not only had the ability and personality to organise the club, but he wag able to run it on such lines as to keop a guiding hand on its •members.
Replying to the toast, Mr. Taylor said that he regarded usefulness as a man's value in life. The primary object of the club was to train its members to extend their usefulness into as wide a circle as they could.
In replying to the toast .of "Sports Bodies," which was proposed by Mr. T. M'Phee, Mr. Brabirj, representing the Wellington Cricket Association, said that the association tried, to do all it could for cricket. He assured members that he would do everything iv his power to make the conditions under which they player] the very. best. He congratulated the cricket club on its success last season.
Mr. Hicks, representing the Wellington Football Association, said that the club had always been a. credit to his association. The members oE the football teams had never given any trouble, and had always played the game.
Mr. Osborne, who'represented the Wellington Boys' Cricket Association, also spoke briefly. • Mr. K. Dunn, who proposed the toast of the "Wellington City Mission," said that the new club building was the. outcome of the generosity of the City Mission trustees of the Stop Out Club. Members, however, owed a debt of gratitude to Mr. Taylor for the great part he had played in connection with the new premises. After several other toasts had been honoured, the followjng cricket trophies Were presented:—Junior; B, highest score for season: K. Liddicoa.t,' cricket bat. Best all-round performances: W. Dunn, silver cup, donated by Mr. W. R. Bock; •J. Moore, gold medal donated by Mr. Brabirj. Junior C, best all-round performance: P. Kemp, medal. : Best' fielding: G. Scott., medal. Third grade, best batting and bowling average: R. Brown, medal. Senior boys' grade, most. enthusiastic player: H. LongstafE, medal. Junior boys' grade, best bowling average: W.. Smith, medal. Most enthusiastic player: H. Harding, Peterson memorial medal.
