HOTEL DESTROYED
OCCUPANTS' NARROW ESCAPES
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") ■'-..- NELSON, This Day. ■ Yesterday morning about a quarter to three the Commercial Hotel at Havelock was totally destroyed by fire. The only occupants at the time were the licensee, Mr. Clarence Mill, and his family and staff. They had narrow escapes in making their way from the burning building. Tho lire brigade turned out, but so strong a hold had the flames obtained that little could be done to save 'the structure, a wooden two-storied one. The hotel was owned by Brownlec and C 0.,. who had an insurance of £160.0. ■ The furniture was insured for £ 600,' and ' the stock for & 300. . On 22nd February, 1929, the Masonic .Hotel, opposite,-was destroyed by fire.
