SWIMMING
THE PECK SHIELD
Matters concerning the recently donated Peek Shield were discussed at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Centre, A.S.A., last evening, when Mr. P. Coira presided. There were present Messrs. W. Lock, J. C Blakeley, W. Gerrie, W. Fisher, K. M'Cavtnoy, F. Kawliuson, H. H. Gillespic, W. Boustield, J. Alexander, Davis, and N. Oldershaw (secretary). Suggestions in connection with rules tor the trophy" were received from various clubs and after discussion the proposal of the Maramii Club, slightly amended, was adopted—that allocation of the shield to bo decided by a handicapped teams race over a course of one mile and a halt, teams to consist of four swimmers, and competition to be confined to clubs of the Wellington centre. . . A sub-committee, comprising Messrs. Look, Bousfield, and Oldershaw, was appointed to draw up rules and submit them to the donor of the trophy for approval. It was decided to make a grant to the Primary Schools Association to be devoted to the encouragement of educational swimming, and it was agreed that all clubs having unftnancial members should notify th« association.
